Conservatives Have No Plans?

Yesterday's Morning Bell: The Left is in Full Retreat title doesn't do it justice. This is an article packed with many positions and policies that we have been trying to bring forth, but the democrats have kept us out of their meetings. Do you want to know the truth? Do you want to be freed? Then read on.

Last Thursday, a who’s who of the progressive movement met for a conference call organized by Families USA and hosted by the advocacy group for government-run health care, The Herndon Alliance. The Alliance’s partners include AARP, AFL-CIO, SEIU, MoveOn and La Raza, among many others. Democratic pollsters John Anzalone, Celinda Lake and Stan Greenberg were the call’s main event, and they were there to deliver some bad news. Politico reports: “Democrats are acknowledging the failure of their predictions that the health care legislation would grow more popular after its passage, as its benefits became clear and rhetoric cooled. … The presentation also concedes that the fiscal and economic arguments that were the White House’s first and most aggressive sales pitch have essentially failed.”

Health care is not the only issue where the left is retreating in the face of strong disapproval from the American people. Versionista, a Portland, Oregon-based company that tracks changes to the White House website, reported last week that the Obama administration had made “whole-cloth” changes to its “Energy & Environment” issues page. Out are any references to a cap on carbon emissions and a campaign pledge to spend $150 billion on clean energy technologies. In its place the new White House site includes a three-minute Earth Day-themed video from President Barack Obama. And across the country, leftist Senate candidates in Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana have all come out against President Obama’s impending trillion dollar tax hike, due in January.

As satisfying as it is to see Obamacare’s supporters come to terms with the failure of their grand plan, it is not enough for conservatives to just say “no.” Conservatives must have real plans for reform if the American people choose to empower them. The Heritage Foundation’s Solutions for America chapter on Getting Health Care Reform Right recommends:

Repeal Obamacare: There is a precedent for repealing highly unpopular and misguided laws: the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988. Recently, over 70% of Missouri residents rejected a key provision of Obamacare—the requirement that individuals purchase a health insurance plan designed and approved by government bureaucrats. The House of Representatives even voted recently to repeal one provision of Obamacare that will impose draconian paperwork requirements on millions of small businesses. The easiest way to address all these grievances: repeal Obamacare.

Promote Personal Control Through Tax Equity: Today, workers who purchase coverage through their employer receive an unlimited tax break on the value of their health care benefits. However, those who purchase coverage on their own receive no comparable tax break. Ideally, the current tax exclusion should be replaced (or at the very least capped) with a system of universal tax credits for taxpayers. Medicaid and SCHIP spending should also be redirected to help low-income individuals and families purchase private health insurance

Fix Current Government Health Programs: Medicare should be reformed into a defined-contribution system in which the government provides a contribution for benefits and seniors are able to apply their contribution to the health plan that suits them best.

Promote Federal–State Partnerships: A one-size-fits-all federal solution cannot accommodate the unique and diverse health care challenges facing the states. The federal government should promote interstate commerce in health insurance, extend certain protections for those who maintain continuous coverage, and provide states with technical assistance and relief from federal rules that inhibit innovation.

Provide Portability: Individuals—not the government—should be able to choose the health coverage that best suits their needs. To accomplish this, private health insurance must be portable—that is, owned by Americans so they can take their package from job to job.

There is no better symbol for the overreach of the progressive movement into the daily lives of all Americans than Obamacare. Repealing this intolerable act and replacing it with the foundations for a truly market-based health care system is one of the best ways conservatives can capitalize on liberalism’s retreat.

Quick Hits:

•Nearly half of the 1.3 million homeowners who enrolled in the Obama administration’s flagship mortgage-relief program have fallen out.
•The government is investigating at least 20 car dealerships it claims violated the rules of last year’s cash-for-clunkers program.
•Howard Dean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Sunday that President Obama’s political advisers are out of touch with average Americans and need to “spend some time outside Washington.”
Iran opened its first nuclear power plant at a ceremony on Saturday that was attended by senior officials from Iran and Russia.
•Hugo Chavez’ Venezuela suffered more civilian deaths in 2009 than both Baghdad and Mexico.

This is just the beginning. Once we have elected conservatives to office, we must not let up the pressure. That is the mistake we the people made the last time. This is our money and our values they are going to be responsible for and temptation runs high when no one is watching. This time, we shall ALL be watching. It is our responsibility.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

Cap(Tax) and Trade (Tax)

While I like to do my own writing, this one is so well written that I don't think I have anything to add to it. So here it is:

Beginning with this post will be an overview of the Cap and Trade Bill or as
it is better known in more conservative circles, Crap and Tax Bill. The
Bill has passed the house, in the dark of night and right before a recess
which seems to be the norm for the leftist regime currently ruling Congress.

The Bill is being stalled in the Senate due to the so called Immigration
Reform Bill or as is better known in conservative circles, Buying Votes for
Democrats. The Bill is being presented to the American people as a Climate
Bill which is a way of hiding the fact that it is a TAX BILL, pure and
simple that will raise the cost to every man, woman and child in the US.

Today's post will take a look at some of the cost and the HIDDEN COST within
the bill. The administration is touting the bill as costing only a small
amount to each family but the true cost, just as with Health Care are well
concealed.

In future post we will look at the Bill section by section and hopefully
educated the uninformed on just how negatively this Bill will affect each
and every person in this country. Yes, the reading may be long at times and
a bit dry but it is important that we understand what is happening to
America and the results that it will have on our country.

Here is the article. It may be considered longer than some posts, but it is well worth your time if you care about saving our country. Thank you.

Flags, posters, music, CD player/cassette/radio player. I'll bring my megaphone for everyone's use. If anyone knows of a speaker, please send me an e-mail.

Individually we shall go upstairs and express our views and concerns with the staffers. Be polite but firm. They are very nice in her office.

Also bring your own food and drink. Although being downtown, you should have no problem finding something to eat. Let's have some fun while we venture to save our nation from socialism!

'Disinformation' From Senate Majority Leader

Yesterday I made a phone call to Senator Harry Reid's office to find the Senate Bill (SB) number for Senator Baucus' bill that came out of the Finance Committee. Not too difficult a task, or so I thought. I was given two bill numbers, both dated February 2008!

The bill numbers I was given are SB 1699 and S 1647. I was so excited that I was able to contribute something to the cause that I called Dawn and told her about it. How embarrassing it was to have to call her back after hours on the search for a bill using the Thomas guide and coming up short.

I was very polite on this phone call. You could have sworn that I was on their side. I simply asked if they were going to allow us the 72 hours to view the bill before they voted on it like it had been promised. I did not use anyone's name in particular, because I did not want to put anyone on the defensive. I do not operate like that.

I just wanted the information. Well, no luck. As I mentioned, I searched the whole guide and could not find it. I tried 'Baucus', 'health care', 'health insurance', 'finance committee', and of course the bills themselves. There are too many bills, and boy did I find some doozies, for just one person to handle. I tried my best, but my best wasn't good enough.

According to this email I received from NewsMax today, they have no intention of allowing us any time to read this bill. NewsMax claims the bill hasn't even been written, however I believe it has been written so we disagree on this point. Otherwise, here is the email:
Senators are negotiating on Senator Max Baucus' ObamaCare 6.0 proposal and it hasn't even been written yet.

Of course, to state the obvious, the fact that they're negotiating on something that hasn't been written means no one has read it yet either.

And, to add even more insult to injury, it’s now clear they have no intention of letting you read it.

You read that right. On an almost straight party-line vote, Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee squashed an amendment by Senator Jim Bunning that would have required Baucus’ ObamaCare bill to be posted on the Internet – for all Americans to read – for 72 hours prior to the Committee voting on it.

Not only that. Bunning’s amendment also called for requiring the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office’s official tally of how much Baucus’ ObamaCare 6.0 will cost the American people and what the real impact will be on health costs to be released before the it was voted on.

It's as plain as the nose on your face.

They're leaving the door wide-open to pass Baucus' ObamaCare 6.0 proposal in the dead of night... under the cover of darkness… without even telling you and other concerned Americans what it will cost and how it will affect your health care.

But what really takes the cake is that even after those shenanigans, some Senate Republicans are still going out of their way to play Let’s-Make-A-Deal on Senator Max Baucus’ ObamaCare 6.0 socialized health care scheme.

They're actually fighting tooth-and-nail, not to stop ObamaCare but to negotiate a so-called compromise on this Obama-Baucus scheme to socialize the nation’s health care system.

And that's just one more reason why we must tell our elected officials, right here and right now, that the American people don't want any more negotiations or deals or compromises.

We want ObamaCare off the table and we want it off the table now.
Please keep in mind that I seldom use NewsMax as a reference, but sometimes they get it somewhat correct. Read it with a grain of skeptism, however.

I truly wish I had better news for you. Monday I am going to try better than my best to get that SB number. The reason I believe there is a number is because you cannot move a bill through the process without one. Let's slow down enough to be reasonable. ;)

Have a great weekend! God bless.

PS. I would have prefered to give you the link to NewsMax, but my computer doesn't seem to want to let me go there. Hmm.

Update: Indeed, I can always count on John Fund of the Wall Street Journal's openion section to fill in the gaps:
So it appears Democratic leaders in both houses of Congress have decided to ram a bill through as quickly as possible. On Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee voted 12 to 11 to reject a proposal to require a 72-hour waiting period and a full scoring of the bill by the Congressional Budget Office before the committee casts any final vote. Only one Democrat, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, voted for the waiting period. Chairman Max Baucus said the idea would delay a vote on the final bill for two weeks and he didn't want to waste another moment. [Continue reading Congress Needs a 72-Hour Waiting Period.]
I trust his facts. It gets worse for we the people as you read. We must hit those phones first thing in the morning! Have a nice day.

9/12/09 March On DC Tea Party Videos

Wow. One of my friends sent me an e-mail with many pictures and videos. They are awesome. The videos I have chosen to share with you have 8 parts to them. (I think.) These are being provided by MoxNewsDotCom. The site may be found at MOXNews. I have chosen this one to play here (although I will provide the link in case my computer goes screwy), because it includes many of the people I care about. They sign a rap song to salute our brave men and women, yes--they are not forgotten, and a lady I adore. Yes, she speaks for me!

Here is the link: Tea Party (Taxpayer) March On Washington DC pt.7. 9:51 minutes. Well, I hope you get the idea. There are many more videos from other people, all of these were posted by MoxNewsDotCom. Everytime I thought I was almost done, bam! There's 5 more! ;)

He/she did a very good job of making what appears to be a continuous video. I guess the camera or the upload at YouTube would only allow 11 minutes at a time, so he/she sliced them together. That is why I posted so many. Some tapes end in the middle of what someone is saying, and the next one picks up the rest of the speech. Cool! I know that was a lot of work. Please check them out. Have a great day, ya'll!
